At the prestigious RAFT Conference (Recent Advances in Fermentation Technology), Ingo Knabben of Aachen University presented on using the Aber Biomass Monitor for monitoring high density yeast and bacterial fermentations. The author claims that using overpressure on the bioreactor, the highest ever yields of microrganisms during fermentation were obtained and the Biomass Monitor was able to follow the complete cycle.
At the accompanying RAFT exhibition, Aber displayed the full Futura range of Biomass Monitors and orders for the new range in North America will be accepted by Applikon Inc from Jan 2010. The new Futura Biomass Monitor range has improved performance, a range of options to connecting to small vessels and disposable bioreactors and is significantly lower in cost.
